12 Weeks

Time really seems to be flying by now. I can't believe I am only one week away from the second trimester. I have been feeling great! My energy is starting to come back and now that my uterus is moving upwards off of my bladder I have been sleeping through the night. I have been getting so much love and support from family and friends and it feels great to know everyone is really excited. I decided to make the big announcement on facebook this week. I changed my profile picture to a new picture of me and Jason and changed my status to say "Can you tell where the third person is in this picture?" I fully expected at least one person to be like "Where? I don't see anyone" but people figured it out immediately. Considering half of my friends are people I work with who didn't know I also expected the news to spread around work like wildfire as gossip usually does, but I went the whole week and no one who didn't already know said anything! So strange. So, I guess work will just find out eventually.

Yesterday we had our 12 week scan and blood work done. We got to see the baby again and it was awake and waving its arms and legs around and jumping up and down like it had the hiccups or something. It is amazing how it can move around soooo much and yet I don't feel anything! I can't wait until I start to feel those flutters. The tech said everything looked good on the ultrasound so now I just wait until my next appointment in three weeks.

I'm starting to feel a little bit bloated, especially at the end of the day. When I wake up in the morning the belly is back to normal although Jason says he thinks it's starting to stick out just a tiny little bit. I'm still not convinced it is though. Baby is growing normally though so that's all that matters and I'm going to just enjoy my flat belly and wearing my normal clothes while I can.

11 Weeks

This was a great week! First of all, I have been feeling MUCH better this week! I feel like I am starting to get my energy back, any mild nausea I had is gone, I have been sleeping a little bit better, and dare I say it, my skin is even starting to improve. We had a great appointment where we could see the baby moving around and we finally let our secret out of the bag to the family! We have been getting such great feedback from everyone and it is just making us that much more excited. For those of you who knew before yesterday, thank you so much for keeping our secret for so long!! I still haven't officially come out to my friends on facebook or to work, but I probably will really soon.

So sometimes we get samples of baby stuff in the mail addressed to the previous owner. The other day we got something from Pampers advertising their infant diapers called Swaddlers. It came with a sample diaper and omg I have never in my life seen a diaper so small. Jason thought it was fake, but it's not! I can't imagine having a baby with such a tiny little butt! I guess it just kinda put things in perspective for us a little bit. Here is a picture of the diaper next to my iPhone. It is almost the same size!

And here are this weeks pictures

Welcome friends and family!!

If you've made it to my blog you already know the news...we're pregnant! We are so excited to be finally sharing this experience with all of you. I started this blog when I first found out I was pregnant because I figured it would be a great way to document the pregnancy and also keep everyone updated on my progress. I update at least once a week or more if I feel like it and hope to continue the trend throughout the pregnancy and even beyond. Become a follower for updates and leave your comments...I'd love to hear from everyone! As far as the baby, everything looks great so far and he or she is scheduled to arrive on April 9th, 2010. I'm feeling great and excited to finally be sharing the big news.

Woohoo!

We just got back from a doctor appointment and everything looks great! We saw the baby and it was moving around kicking its little arms and legs! It was sooo cool!! The baby also measured at 10 weeks and 6 days which is exactly where it should be according to my last period so its growth finally caught up. This whole time I was thinking I was a week behind I was really right on track. The heart was beating strong, we could see it and hear it. The doctor was very pleased and also said I would probably only have to take the progesterone shots for only one or two more weeks. She also wasn't concerned about my weight at all and said I probably wouldn't really start gaining until around 18 weeks and that if I gained 25 pounds the whole pregnancy it would be a success. It was funny during the ultrasound Jason said "The baby has a big head!" and the doctor quickly shot back "Just like it's Daddy!" LOL We got a god laugh out of that. So everything is great and we are starting to get excited!

So Excited!!

There must be something in the water because it seems like every week I find out another person I know is pregnant! Yesterday I found out a really good friend of mine is pregnant with twins!!! Her and her husband got married just a few months after us and we got to plan our weddings together and exchange ideas and stuff so I am really looking forward to sharing this experience with her as well. Plus, my cousin is pregnant, so is another friend I met while wedding planning, as well as like half of my female friends on facebook. Do NOT drink the water unless you want to get pregnant. You have been warned!!

10 Weeks

This past week was pretty rough for me. I was having trouble sleeping as it was and then I caught a cold so I felt crappy on top of it all. You need sleep to fight off a cold and I wasn't really getting any so I was miserable to say the least. Today I feel MUCH better though! Pregnancy related, nothing new this week except little by little we are letting the news slip out. Jason seems to be having a much harder time keeping this a secret than I am! I'm down another pound this week and I just have no idea how that is even possible with the ridiculous amount of food I have been eating!! I'm starting to lose interest in taking these pictures of my flat as can be belly but I know as soon as I stop is when it will start growing so I'll keep it up for now.

9 Weeks

The weeks seem to be going by pretty fast so far but at the same time it feels like I've been pregnant forever. Maybe it's just because its still somewhat of a secret and I'm getting excited about finally telling everyone! The only thing I really have to report about last week is the insomnia. I haven't been sleeping well at all. I'm still waking up to go to the bathroom but now its getting harder and harder for me to fall back asleep. Gone are the days of 12 hours of uninterrupted blissful sleep. I have a feeling they are gone forever! Still no change in the weight or the belly but here are the pictures.

Stick Baby!

It's been a month now since I found out I was pregnant and so far it has been pretty smooth sailing for the most part. Then for the past 2 days I've been noticing a tiny little bit of occasional spotting. Not enough for me to call the doctor yet or anything but anything is enough to be concerned over. While spotting is not normal in pregnancy, it is very common. We are keeping our fingers crossed and praying for a sticky baby!

8 Weeks

Friday I had another doctor appointment and we finally got to see and hear the heartbeat!!! It was so cool and a relief to know that everything was ok so far. The heart was beating so fast 169 bpm! I measured exactly a week behind again at only 7 weeks but the doctor said it's no concern since the baby is growing at a normal rate. They don't officially date the pregnancy until they do the nuchal scan at around 11 weeks so we will see what happens.

The nausea has started to set in this week. Nothing major just feeling not so good at times and then it usually passes. I have not had to pray to the porcelain god as of yet so let's hope it stays this way. I had two days of feeling like I had a very upset stomach after I ate but that seems to have passed as well. To be honest most days I feel like I have a hangover. I found this comic to be fitting for this week.

Other than that I've noticed I'm starting to get cravings for certain things. Nothing strange yet but more like I get hungry and I'm in the mood for something like say a cheeseburger and that's what I have to eat. I've also noticed that my normal extremely sweet tooth is pretty much nonexistent and I find myself eating more salty or especially spicy foods. I still haven't gained any weight. In fact I lost the one pound I had gained this week and am back to my pre-pregnancy weight. My next appointment is in three weeks so if I don't gain anything by then I'll have to check with my doctor. I think that's it for week 8. Here are this week's pictures.

7 Weeks

I'm starting to wish there was something new to blog about! I really feel the same, mostly just tired. I feel like I should be seeing some bloat or something in the belly by now but there's nothing there. I guess I should be happy about that!! Thanks again to Dad and Shirley for my copy of "What to Expect When You're Expecting." That was so thoughtful of you!!

To Dye or Not to Dye??

I've been highlighting my hair for a few years now, but I'm wondering is it safe to continue doing while pregnant? I asked my doctor. She says she does not recommend doing it until at least 20 weeks. In 20 weeks my roots will be down to my ears!!! Everything I read in the pregnancy books and on the Internet says there is no proven risk to dying your hair while pregnant, especially if you use foils like I do because little to none of the product even touch the scalp. I mean, hairdressers get pregnant and are around the chemicals their whole pregnancy. I hate to take any unnecessary risks at all when it comes to the heath of my baby, but I wish I could just get a clear answer on how safe or unsafe it really is. For now, I guess I'll try the lemon juice recipe I used to use in high school!

6 Weeks

I guess for now I'll just continue counting the weeks as I have been until my doctor can give me a better estimate and a due date. Not many changes this week. Most times, I don't even really feel pregnant and have to remind myself that I am. The fatigue is still kicking me in the butt. And speaking of the butt, my left butt cheek is still sore from the shot on Thursday! My boobs definitely feel bigger these past few days, or maybe that is just wishful thinking. Who knows!! I expected by now to feel some bloating or something but I really haven't had any at all so I guess that's a good thing. Here are the pics this week of my non existent belly bump.

Busy Day Today

First, we got up early and headed to my doctors appointment. The results from my blood work last week were and and while my HCG levels were increasing like they should be, my progesterone levels were low. My doctor said she wasn't too concerned because the other levels were so high, but progesterone is important in early pregnancy because it is basically what sustains the pregnancy. It keeps the lining of the uterus thick and my ovaries are supposed to continuously produce progesterone until the placenta is formed and it takes over. So now once a week Jason has to inject me with a progesterone supplement in my butt cheek to keep my levels where they should be. Not fun but necessary and worth it. Then she took a look inside with what I like to call the "dildo cam" and we could see the gestational sac and a little blurb of what is the embryo inside. It's all finally starting to sink in! Because the embryo was so small she measured the sac and estimated me to be 4 weeks and 6 days pregnant, a whole week behind what I estimated. She said nothing to worry about, I just ovulated late this month and with pregnancy tests being so sensitive, I got a very early positive.

Later in the day we went car shopping. We've been needing to get Jason a new car since the truck was getting pretty old but now with the baby on the way we needed a more family friendly vehicle. We ended up getting a pretty great deal on a 2008 GMC Yukon which is exactly what he wanted! Car shopping is stressful enough without being pregnant and hormonal. After being there about 3 hours and going back and forth on pricing the manager asked us "Why are you getting so agitated?" where I promptly responded with "Because I'm pregnant, hormonal, and tired and I just want to hurry this up already!" Uhh, after that he knocked $1000 off the price!! Anyway, the car is beautiful and will definitely suit our needs for years to come.

Pregnancy Brain

Is it too early for this because I swear I'm losing my mind! Today I spent 5 minutes searching the house for my keys, running all around up and down the stairs. I finally found them....in my purse where I must have put them only a few seconds before the frantic search. ::slaps forehead:: I'm in for a long nine months!

5 Weeks

5 weeks now and I'm feeling pretty much the same. I still feel generally tired although that seems to be improving just a little bit. My sense of smell is definitely heightened. I smell everything. The other day I ran around my kitchen like a freak because something smelled bad and I wasn't satisfied until I sprayed everything down, and not only took out the trash but sprayed the trash can out with Lysol and took it outside and hosed it down. Oh and lunchtime and work is not very fun either. People heating up whatever random things they bring, it all smells bad. My newest symptom this week is sore and sensitive boobs. Also, my appetite is out of control. It seems like I get hungry a lot more often and when I'm hungry, I'm starving! According to my scale I have gained about a pound. Before I got pregnant I lost a few pounds due to stress and I was at the lowest I have weighed in my adult life so I expect to gain a few pounds back right away. Other than that we are just looking forward to Thursday when we go back to the doctor and hopefully we can see the baby this time and even the heartbeat.

Belly Button in or out? In
What I miss the most: My energy still and diet coke.

Weekly Update: Your embryo (looking kind of like a tadpole) is starting to form major organs (heart, kidney, liver, stomach) and systems (nervous, circulatory, digestive). Baby's presence in your uterus triggers production of hCG (the hormone detected by pregnancy tests)... which triggers production of other hormones like estrogen and progesterone... which trigger all those great symptoms you've probably been noticing
